Dr Paul Tibbles and the local Liberal Democrat team are calling for a Carers’ Minimum Wage.

It comes as the latest figures reveal Wandsworth has 471 job vacancies in the social care sector; a vacancy rate of 9.2 per cent.

Dr Paul Tibbles said: "Social care is in crisis. Too many people in Wandsworth are stranded in hospital beds because there simply aren’t enough social care workers to look after them at home or in a care home. Or help them to return home."

Lib Dem leader Ed Davey, added, "Our plan for a Carers' Minium Wage would tackle these chronic staff shortages in social care, and help take pressure off the NHS."
